Treasuring the valuable efforts of its employees, Dubai Smart Government, led by Director General H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan, recently honoured the members of the team responsible for the success of its ‘Government Resources Planning (GRP) systems upgrade to R12’ project.

During the ceremony, which took place at the Department’s headquarters at H.H. Dubai Ruler’s Court, H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all the teams that have significantly contributed to the GRP Systems Upgrade project, highlighting their organized efforts wherein they communicated with the Department’s government partners through a series of meetings to better understand and address their needs and requirements. H.E. Bin Humaidan further commended the team for their dedication and their contributions in the Department’s continued progress throughout the year, as he urged them to continue to showcase their creativity and ingenuity in the future.
Bin Humaidan added: “It is important to upgrade the government resources planning system as they are crucial in the ongoing government integration in Dubai. The GRP systems provide a comprehensive network to connect, communicate and exchange information among government entities, while maintaining the privacy of each department. Moreover, these systems create an integrated infrastructure that helps government entities in managing basic resources efficiently, and to further advance the eTransformation in Dubai.”
Wesam Lootah, Assistant Director General of Dubai Smart Government, said: “We must thoroughly examine the tremendous success of the project and look into the many lessons and experiences learned to be used in future projects. We are now certain that we are on par with the private sector in terms of delivering projects on time, through the efforts of our well-experienced teams, the cooperation of other departments and the positive response we received from end-users.”
Huda Al Hashimi, Director of GRP Department, discussed the indicators and achievements of the R12 Upgrade project, emphasizing the importance of the daily follow-ups and continued support of Dubai Smart Government’s senior management, headed by Director General H.E. Bin Humaidan to achieve success. She further pointed that the cooperation among different concerned departments is in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Carla Zaarour, Project Manager, Dubai Smart Government, explained: “The project commenced in August 2011, followed by a number of training sessions and impact analysis sessions. However, the project was officially launched in April 2012, and we successfully upgraded the previous version of the GRP systems to R12 in October 2012, as per its defined schedule. This accounts for 245 working days and more than 15,000 scenarios testing, in addition to the simultaneous coordination and upgrade of all government systems. We have managed to overcome the arising challenges and ultimately achieve our objectives.”
H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan handed out certificates of appreciation to the team members of the GRP Systems Upgrade project, praising their performance and urging them to continue this level of work in the future.
